Workspace Migration from Impact 2022.2 to 2023.1🔗

This article describes the basic workflow for workspace conversion associated with upgrading Modelon Impact from 2022.2 to 2023.1 and their respective Modelon libraries. As part of the upgrade of the Modelon Impact server, the Modelon libraries inside your workspace will have been upgraded to the latest version, 2023.1. Upon opening a workspace for the first time after the upgrade has been performed, Modelon Impact will prompt you to convert your editable models to make them compatible with the latest version of the Modelon libraries.

The article describes two workflows:

  1. Convert the Workspace to use 2023.1 Modelon Impact libraries - (Default)

  2. Retain 2022.2 Modelon Impact libraries in the Workspace

Convert workspace to use 2023.1 Modelon libraries🔗

  1. Launch Impact 2023.1 and Open the Workspace that before the upgrade contained 2022.2 Modelon libraries

  2. ''WORKSPACE UPDATES'' dialog pops up with two buttons ''CANCEL'' and ''UPDATE''

  1. Click on the ''UPDATE'' button to update the libraries to the latest versions. The libraries inside the package will get converted to the latest version.

  1. Click on the ''CLOSE'' button once the update is done. The Workspace is now upgraded to 2023.1

Note

Once the conversion is initiated, you will receive a message confirming the conversion and you can either approve or reject. This is the only way to reverse the conversion. Once the conversion is approved, a workspace cannot be reverted to the previous library version.

Retain workspaces using 2022.2 Modelon libraries🔗

  1. Repeat steps 1-2 from previous section

  2. Click on the CANCEL button in the ''WORKSPACE UPDATES'' dialog to retain the older versions of libraries.

  1. When you open the left side-bar, a warning triangle appears next to the name of the Workspace. If you hover the mouse pointer over it, a tool-tip is displayed. This tool-tip tells you what version of the Modelon libraries the editable models in the Workspace are using. If you do not want to upgrade the Workspace to the latest version of the Modelon libraries, this information should be used to identify what libraries should be added as dependencies in the next step.

  1. From the apps menu, open the Workspace Configuration Tool to add the appropiate libraries to the Workspace.

  2. Go back to the Workspace again, and reload. The Workspace will now have retained the 2022.2 Modelon library versions used before the upgrade.
