Coolingloop External Temp Control🔗

Dynamic model of a liquid cooling circuit, similar to the CoolingLoop example. The flow is driven by a pump incorporating a table based pump curve. The external heat load is described by a ramp.

A radiator with a thermostatic bypass valve cools the liquid coolant. In this example the temperature of a solid object is controlled, and the valve position is controlled by an external PID controller. A fan is incorporated to generate air flow on the heat exchanger.

The plot below shows the temperature set point and the resulting temperature.

Orifice Sizing🔗

This model is a simplified representation of a coolant circuit as part of the thermal management system onboard a hybrid electric aircraft.

It is used to demonstrate how the flow in different branches of the coolant circuit can be regulated based on sizing the diameters of the respective orifice components in each branch such that the heat loads generated from the electrical components can be evacuated. For this example, there exists a detailed tutorial which explains step-by-step, a number of predefined experiments integrated into the model and how to interpret the results. The full tutorial can be found here.
