VDL Version 4.3
VehicleDynamics Library 4.3 is part of Modelons 2023.2 release.
New Features
Support for the rFpro HD Terrain Server
VDL has been extended to include support of the rFpro HD Terrain Server. This new ground model allows offline testing of chassis models on the same HD road surface used in rFpro driver-in-the loop simulations. Wheel contact calculation methods and multi-point chassis sensor models have been modified to provide ground height and normal information from the Terrain Server's surface data.
Please see the TerrainServer ground model for more information, requirements, and limitations.
Improvements/Changes
Ground Surface Friction Patches
It is no longer possible to define surface friction patches by default in the Flat, OpenCRG and TabularRoad ground models. This functionality is still available by using the Patches version: Patches.Flat, Patches.OpenCRG and Patches.TabularRoad. All parameters related to patches (mu_patch, x_min_patch, x_max_patch, y_min_patch, y_max_patch, etc.) have been moved to the Patches ground models. If you were using these parameters, you will have to modify your model to point to the Patches-equivalent ground model.
Ground Unevenness Models
The Grounds.Unevenness models have been cleaned to fix spelling errors and make the unevenness patches more accessible. All unevenness models and parameters are now correctly spelled, previously uneveness used instead of unevenness. The unevenness patches have also been moved from Grounds.Internal to the Grounds.Unevenness package.
Minor Changes
- The default contact calculation model in the FormulaSAE Rill05_155_50_R13 and Rill05_175_45_R13 wheels has been changed to the Single model. Previously, the default contact calculation model was Generic.
Conversion of User Libraries
User libraries will automatically be converted from version 4.2. These conversions are made using the included conversion script: VehicleDynamics/Resources/Scripts/Convert_to_4.3.mos.
